ABOUT MARGARET WHITTINGTON

I am married and live in Wormit, Fife. I have been a practising therapist since 1988.

My background is in education. I have taught and worked both at home and abroad.

I have always been interested in medical and health issues. I relate  well to people and enjoy helping them. Therefore, I jumped at the  opportunity to learn reflexology when the opportunity arose. I gained my  diploma in 1988 and did the advanced course the following year. I also  hold a HND in aromatherapy and massage. I have a B.Sc. degree in  Complementary Therapies.

I hold certificates in Facial and Abdominal reflexology, polarity and  magnet therapies from the Scottish School of Reflexology(SSR).

Besides having my own practice, I was a senior lecturer with the  Scottish School of Reflexology for 14 years and have also taught  complementary therapies at an advanced level at college.

I have worked in a health setting, helping patients with mental health problems and also cancer and long-term illnesses.

Since practicing complementary therapies, I have been on various  committees including student mentor with The Scottish Institute of  Reflexology (SIR) and been part of the education and training group  within the B.C.M.A. (British Complementary Medicine Association).

BENEFITS

Aromatherapy and Reflexology can benefit everyone whether in good health  or their health requires improvement. In our increasingly stressful,  often impersonal world, massage is being rediscovered as renewing,  non-invasive form of communication through touch.  It is excellent for  helping a wide range of stress related disorders including headaches,  insomnia, hypertension, inflammatory skin disorders, and pre-menstrual  syndrome and menopausal problems.  It can help boost the immune system and  relieve the aches and pains of rheumatism and backache, as well as  providing some comfort for osteoarthritis.
